Keeping Ahead and Keeping Your Head in Term 3
Are you called to professional Christian counselling?
In 2021, SATS launched a new Bachelor of Theology Honours programme with a specialization in Christian counselling. This is a professional Christian counselling Honours degree that affords those who complete the programme the opportunity to apply for designation as a counselor with the CPSC (SAQA-recognised professional body for pastoral and spiritual counsellors in South Africa).
If you have a Bachelor’s degree in Theology, but have not been exposed to any counselling training, we set up a bridging programme for you. This programme will equip you with the theoretical and practical training offered in the BTh Honours space. For those who have completed the BTh with a counselling focus, we look forward to coming alongside you in your application process.
To learn more about application requirements, please see the programme page here.
If you are unsure and would like to know more about the programme, please email Dr. Candida Millar ([email protected]). Our next cohort starts on 1 February 2024.

2023 SATS Graduation Ceremony
This year, the SATS graduation ceremony will take place on Saturday, 2 September in Johannesburg, South Africa. Please save the date! More details will be sent to eligible graduates in the coming weeks.
(Note that coursework students would have had to complete their final course(s) by the end of Term 1 in 2023 to be eligible for the 2023 graduation ceremony.)
Student Research Hub
The Student Research Team put out a questionnaire a few months ago asking about how the Student Research Commons (now called the Student Research Hub) is used and what improvements we could make. We are proud to announce that we have updated it in response to your comments. It has a fresh look-and-feel with updated and added content. Related to the Student Research Hub, there is The Gathering, which is a platform where students and supervisors meet to share thesis research findings and progress, and we also launch the Student Research Quarterly, a newsletter specifically for our MTh and PhD students.
Students can visit the Student Research Hub and have a look around.
