About this course
This course provides a foundation for advanced studies in systematic theology. An inter-disciplinary approach is used, which integrates biblical, philosophical, and historical themes to clarify key Christian doctrines. The course provides a deeper theological conceptualisation and challenges you to reflect on how to apply theological knowledge to your context. Thus, the systematisation of the Christian doctrines in this course is not only for academic purposes but also to encourage you to live well for God.
During the course you will be required to learn how to gather information, analyse and synthesise, make applications, recognise the interrelation of doctrines and integrate your learning with various other theological disciplines. Therefore, the reading lists for the various modules draw from different sources; this approach introduces you to the wealth of systematic theology texts and contributions.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Articulate the key tenets and doctrines of the Christian faith.
- Recognise the interrelation of various doctrines and how they apply to the church today.
- Analyse, synthesise and make application of what they learn through various forms of assessments.
- Use the Bible in tracing key theological themes and how to assess doctrines.
