About this course

This course presents key missiological concepts that prepare students to encounter people in their context, compelled by the Missio Dei. The contributions of authors like Bosch, Bevans, Kritzinger, and Ngubane are studied to gain an understanding of missiology and to understand encounterology, as a mode of being with people that opens a way for contextual gospel ministry.

By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • Explain the relationship between Missio Dei, the modes of mission, and the emerging church in the book of Acts.
  • Describe missional hermeneutic against the backdrop of encounters between people from different contexts.
  • Explain what missiological research design is and apply it by writing a contextual research paper.
