About this course

This course is designed to equip lay, pastoral, and Christian counsellors to gain deeper theological insight regarding the human experience of loss and grief, and the complexity of the grieving process. The course focuses on laying theological and theoretical foundations for Christian counsellors to come alongside grieving people with understanding and compassion.

This course will equip the student counsellor to integrate appropriate theological and theoretical perspectives on loss, grief, and grief counselling whilst applying cultural considerations in the student counsellor’s context.

Outcomes

  • Understand biblical foundations regarding loss and 
  • Describe cultural diversity perspectives on the human experience of loss
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the theology of suffering
  • Demonstrate insights about the theory of grieving and grief counselling
  • Identify and apply ethical considerations to grief counselling

The following textbook prescribed for this course is used in all the counselling courses and must be purchased.
