This course is designed to review the grammar of New Testament Greek at an introductory level, refresh New Testament Greek vocabulary knowledge, and build reading skills by translating 1 John from the SBL Greek New Testament.
By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Koine Greek grammar at the level presented in Mounce’s Basics of Biblical Greek.
- Recognise vocabulary occurring 30 or more times in the SBL Greek New Testament.
- Translate any verse from 1 John, including parsing known morphological forms and providing the inflected meaning of known lexemes.
It is recommended that students purchase the following text (the second and third editions are also acceptable), which is available online from Logos Bible Software:
- Mounce, William D. 2019. Basics of Biblical Greek Grammar. Edited by Verlyn D. Verbrugge and Christopher A. Beetham. Fourth Edition. Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.
