Counsellor’s Corner – October: Practicing Balance

How do you hold effort and rest together in this season?

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize…” (Philippians 3:14, NIV).

Spring busyness can challenge emotional balance. Mental health teaches that effort without rest leads to depletion. Paul’s disciplined pursuit was grounded in identity, not striving for worth. This month, notice where balance may be needed. Faithful pressing on includes Sabbath moments and self-compassion. When effort is rooted in purpose rather than pressure, it becomes sustaining rather than exhausting.
