About this course
The objective of this course is to provide a biblical and theological grounding on the kingdom of God in light of a theology of the Church and mission. You will explore the relationship between the kingdom and the Church, discover how the ordinances (or sacraments) of the Church are essential for mission, and how the Church is an alternative community in the world. You will also evaluate the relationship between Church, state, and social justice. The kingdom reign of Christ is very significant too, and here you will discover how it informs the Church & Mission. By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Examine and critique the relationship between the kingdom and the Church.
- Explain and defend the ordinances/sacraments of the Church as essential for mission.
- Examine and justify how the Church is an alternative community in the world.
- Analyze and advocate for the relationship between Church, state, and social justice.
- Formulate ways in which the kingdom reign of Christ informs the Church’s mission.
