About this course
This course is intended to give you a basic overview, or survey, of church history. By design, a survey course is one which covers a large field superficially. You will survey the whole period of church history, starting with a short overview and progressing to increasingly more detailed surveys. You will then be presented with scenarios from two eras in church history and be asked to interpret and apply it to your own context. By the end of this course you should be able to:
- List key facts in church history leading up to modern evangelicalism, including important terms, people, places, events and movements.
- Distinguish between accurate and flawed synopses of a variety of significant developments in church history.
- Explain new insights that you gained from the course, and its effects on your own beliefs and practices, appreciation of other Christian traditions, past and present.
