About this course
The course will introduce you to the Book of Psalms, helping you to understand how psalms were composed, and how to interpret them. By the end of this course you should be able to:
- Discuss introductory issues related to the Book of Psalms.
- Identify and expound the three-fold structure of psalms as lyric poems: the statement, development, and resolution of a controlling theme
- Identify and expound the genre of psalms based on their tone (mood) and form (structure).
- Recognise and explain the structural features of praise and lament psalms.
- Identify and explain the major types of parallelism in the psalms.
- Recognise and explain figures of speech and poetic imagery in the psalms.
- Explicate a psalm using the five steps in Ryken's method.
