About this course

In this short course, Dr Christopher Peppler introduces the Christocentric Principle, a method of interpreting the Bible from a Jesus perspective that he has used effectively through his ministry and academic careers.

Learning Objectives

  • Define Jesus-centred Bible interpretation.

  • List and explain six benefits of a Christ-centred approach to interpreting the Bible.

  • Paraphrase the biblical case for a Jesus-centred approach to Bible study.

  • Recognise how the Christocentric principle works in combination with other principles of interpretation.

  • Recognise how the Christocentric principle can help to answer complex biblical and theological questions.

Learning Activities

  • Complete nine short interactive lessons. They include watching or listening to mini-lectures, reading summaries of the key points, and taking study notes.

  • Optional advanced activity: Read two articles about the Christocentric Principle.

  • Complete a practice quiz and pass the final quiz to demonstrate that you have met the learning objectives.
