About this course
This course equips lay, pastoral, and Christian counsellors to support families in cultivating Godly parenting and discipline that nurture Christlike character in children. Students will learn to develop collaborative strategies for resolving family conflict and fostering restoration. The course also addresses contextual challenges in caring for ageing parents and renewing marital relationships during the “empty-nest” phase. Grounded in biblical principles and practical counselling insight, it prepares counsellors to strengthen Christian families within diverse African settings, promoting wholeness, intergenerational harmony, and faithful living aligned with God’s design for family life. By the end of this course you should be able to:
Identify biblical principles of Godly parenting in Christian families.
Explain biblical principles to effective disciplining in Christian families
Construct effective strategies for addressing family conflict and restoration
Guide parents in preparing themselves and their teens for adult life
Apply biblical principles of marriage to counselling parents in the “empty-nest” phase.
