About this course
This course teaches Paul’s letter to the Ephesians using principles of exegesis. Paul opens the exhortation section of the letter by emphasizing that believers are saved to walk in unity (vv. 1–6), gifted to operate in cultural diversity (vv. 7–16), making the letter especially relevant for Christ-followers in Africa because it deals at length with two topics of relevant importance: the power of the gospel to unite people who are natural enemies and the power of the gospel to grant the believer victory and authority over evil powers in Christ. By the end of the course you should be able to:
- Discuss the major background issues relating to Ephesians
- Conduct an overview study of a New Testament letter
- Apply good exegetical methods to interpret a passage in a Pauline letter
- Conduct an exposition of a passage in a Pauline letter
- Conduct a detailed exegetical study of a passage in a Pauline letter.
