Crisis & Trauma Christian Counselling 2

This course equips lay, pastoral, and Christian counsellors to develop deeper theological insight into trauma and its implications for meaningful living, growth, and flourishing in Christ. Building on Trauma-Informed Christian Counselling I, students will apply counselling skills contextually to support traumatized individuals and groups—such as sexually abused women, survivors of intimate partner violence, traumatized children, and adolescents. Integrating sound theological perspectives on healing with practical counselling approaches, the course enables counsellors to minister compassionately and effectively in trauma-affected contexts, fostering restoration, spiritual renewal, and Christ-centred wholeness within diverse communities. By the end of this course you should be able to:

• Describe the problem of trauma in society from a theological perspective—implication of trauma on meaningful living and growing toward flourishing in Christ.

• Identify and apply appropriate counselling skills to counselling traumatised women—sexual abuse and intimate partner violence.

• Demonstrate an understanding of ethical implications of counselling traumatised children and adolescents.

• Exercise appropriate counselling techniques with traumatised children and adolescents.

• Demonstrate insights regarding traumatised groups and initiating appropriate creative counselling techniques.
