About this course

Generally, ethics is the field concerned with human conscience, character, and conduct. It is also considered to be an interdisciplinary field. Interdisciplinary simply means combining two or more academic disciplines. All fields of theology, like Old Testament studies, New Testament studies, Missiology, Practical Theology, and Systematic Theology, are concerned with the right way of living as God’s people. Ethics also surpasses the boundaries of theology and involve other fields of study from economics to sociology, to psychology, to labour, to politics, to the environment, to sexual orientation, poverty, the medical profession, to sport and the media to name a few. By the end of this course you should be able to:

  • define important terms used in Christian ethics
  • formulate biblical theories underlying Christian ethics
  • explain the similarities and dissimilarities between African ethics and Western ethics
  • Apply ethical principles to current ethical issues and practical scenarios in a ministry and community context
