About this course
Marriage is under attack and many of the values that keep marriages healthy are deteriorating, or no longer exist. In the year 1900, about 10 percent of marriages ended in divorce. By 2000, the figure escalated to over 50 percent. This course deals with premarital counselling, marriage counselling, marriage enrichment, and counselling people going through divorce and remarriage.
Christian counsellors need to know what the Bible teaches about marriage and divorce, as well as what the chief causes of divorce are and how to handle it in counselling. It is critical to take individuals, couples, and whole families into account when doing counselling in sensitive areas such as divorce and remarriage.
By the end the course you should be able to:
- Demonstrate awareness of issues involved in group counselling
- Demonstrate understanding of marriage partner selection and premarital counselling
- Demonstrate understanding of marriage enrichment
- Master individual, couples', or family counselling skills
- Demonstrate understanding of divorce and marriage
