About this course

This course develops advanced academic, critical thinking, and professional competencies in Christian counselling through engagement with scholarly literature, collaborative learning, and reflective practice. Students critically analyse research in narrative counselling and logotherapy, exploring its theological foundations, ethical implications, and relevance to Christian counselling praxis. Through academic reading, article reviews, cohort discussions, presentations, and group supervision, students strengthen their ability to evaluate diverse perspectives, integrate theory with practice, and articulate informed theological and professional positions. Particular emphasis is placed on the integration of Bible-based, Christ-centred, Spirit-led counselling approaches that support the journey towards Christlikeness and flourishing within the church and wider community. The course culminates in an oral examination through which students demonstrate advanced understanding, critical reflection, and the ability to apply scholarly insights to contextual Christian counselling practice.
